Must-Haves for Clean & Easy Travel

Travel has to be one of my favorite career perks. Client events have taken me from The Hamptons to Los Angeles. Most recently, my travel game has gone up a couple of notches now that I only stay in Airbnbs. It’s like a mini vacation— sometimes with my husband—even when it’s for work. #GAMECHANGER I’ll likely do a post on that in the near future.

In the meantime, I invite you to check out my must-have travel essentials for your next trip.

Herschel

— THROW IT IN THE BAG

My homie gifted me with this bag and it changed my travel experience. The adjustable straps allows me to wear it around my waist or as a crossbody, so that I can be hands free at all times. It has one, extra large pocket that fits my wallet, gum, snacks, phone, cleaning supplies and even my Corkcicle.

Socks+Major+Creates

— YOU NEED TWO PAIR

If you know me, you know I don’t get along with germs. There’s nothing that creeps me out more than having to sit or walk in a dirty place without shoes on. Even if you’re not a germaphobe, I highly recommend bringing an extra pair of socks to put on to go through airport security. Millions of people take the same path, and they all carry their own set of germs with them. Oy, the thought of this makes me cringe.

Scarf

— GET COZY

Planes are cold and I’m all about comfort when taking flight. I particularly prefer to use a infinity scarf so that I can cover my neck and my face. Yes, my face. Covering my face allows me to block out the bright lights and get great rest. Trust me, you’ll look a little crazy when you do this, but I promise you’ll enjoy the nap. Bonus: You don’t have to inhale all the germs floating around.

Corkcicle

— HYDRATION IS KEY

My friend, Dana Marie Roquemore, gifted me with my first Corkcicle a couple of years ago, and my drinking game went to a new level. Unfortunately, I left my peach Tumbler at a client event in Jacksonville and I’ve never gotten over it. Today, I’ve got a dozen or so Corkcicles in rotation for travel, ranging from small to large bottles.

The Perks:

- Eliminates the need to use plastic or single-use products

- Allows you to get free water after security

- Enables you to keep coffee or tea warms for hours

LARABAR

— SO NECESSARY

For the past decade or so, I’ve battled with fainting while in the air. The doctors haven’t been able to diagnose the issue, but I’ve been able to fight against the issue through prayer and snacking. Every once in a while, I’ll bring fresh fruit, but LARABAR is my go-to snack. This pack of five will take care of your snacking needs for the duration of the trip.

Also, explore getting packs of tea. It sounds extra, but there’s nothing like having your favorite drink away from home. I’m obsessed with Trader Joe’s Organic Ginger Turmeric tea.

Wipes

— WIPE ME DOWN, BABY!

Everything needs a good wipe down, and sometimes I have to bring out the hard core cleaning products. The steering wheel in the rental car place and especially my seat and seat belt on the plane. I recommend wiping everything down just to be safe. People often get sick after traveling, so it’s best to be cautious.

AirPods

— FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE

After I wipe down my seat, I scroll through my favorite podcasts and save a handful to last the duration of the flight. AirPods or wireless headphones, in general, are perfect for hands-free commuting.
